Flora Pettit PC, an established central Virginia and Shenandoah Valley law firm that highly values its employees seeks a full-time, long-term, motivated employee for its Charlottesville, Virginia office. Successful candidates must understand and maintain client confidentiality and information safeguarding, as well as demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Responsibilities include analyzing complex and detailed documents, assisting in the preparation of written discovery and document production. May also involve performing clerical, administrative, and secretarial duties to support attorneys in all aspects of case preparation as needed. Attention to detail, a high level of organization, and the ability to work efficiently within a team are indispensable.

Essential Functions

· Keep clients informed by maintaining contact, scheduling meetings, and communicating case progress

· Maintain an up-to-date list of active files for supervising attorney which contain filing deadlines that need to be calendared

· Draft legal documents including letters, motions, subpoenas, summonses, and other pleadings requiring judgment and attention to detail for content, accuracy, and completeness

· Manage cases by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; calendaring and meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software; confirming case status with attorney

· Review documents, interview clients, and perform necessary investigation to prepare discovery packages that include disclosure statements, financial documents, answers to interrogatories, and production requests

· Analysis of discovery packages from opposing party and identify important case details

· Interact with other offices and departments outside of the firm to obtain and provide information

· Calculate child support using VADER system

· Prepare trial notebooks and assistance in trial settings

· Prepare Asset and Debt spreadsheets

· Working knowledge of Adobe and Adobe Pro

· May assist in registering attorney and providing travel arrangements for seminars and professional meetings

· Ability to download and manage documents electronically

· Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

· Knowledge of practices and procedures specific to a legal office

· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing

· Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions

· Ability to exercise office organizational skills such as paper and electronic filing and managing multiple priorities

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and supervisors, other departments/offices, and other agencies

· Ability to work independently and apply logic to solve problems

· Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality

· Ability to effectively proofread for accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling

Compensation DOE.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
